Sterile ear and skin cleanser for dogs and cats that breaks down bacterial and fungal biofilms, and can be used in conjunction with Otodine®.
Tris-NAC contains two highly synergistic and innovative active substances that break down bacterial and fungal biofilms, and has high ionic strength. Tris-EDTA alters the permeability of the cell membranes of bacteria and fungi and helps prevent the formation of new biofilm, while the N-acetylcysteine breaks down existing biofilm.
Designed for use in dogs and cats, and is safe to use in dogs with ruptured eardrums (but not in cats with ruptured eardrums). It can be used in conjunction with Otodine®.
The active substances are provided in separate containers and must be mixed before use. Tris-EDTA is provided in a bottle (Bottle A) and N-acetylcysteine is provided in a cap (Cap B).
Ear canal: Squeeze the solution into the ear canal, then cover the ear with the ear flap and gently massage the base of the ear. Leave for 3–5 minutes and remove any excess with a cotton wool pad. Guidance dosage for ear cleaning:
Skin: Apply directly to the skin and ensure the whole area is covered. Draw up more solution if needed (or according to directions from the vet). Leave to dry.
Repeat application as necessary (or as directed by a vet). Other products can be used 10 minutes after application. The shelf-life of the mixed solution is 50 days.
Tris-EDTA is a key ingredient in Tris-NAC, as it modifies the permeability of bacterial and fungal cell membranes and helps prevent the formation of new biofilms, while N-acetylcysteine helps combat existing biofilms.
What is biofilm?
Biofilm is a heterogeneous structure consisting of a matrix of extracellular polymers enclosing bacterial populations protected from antibiotics, cleaning agents and disinfectants, as well as from the immune system. Biofilm can form on animal tissues.
Perfect. My dog used to rub his mouth on the ground, thanks to Tris-NAC the pain is less repetitive.
